Lactose Interance Explored

In the age when everyone seems to have food allergies, it’s always good to

come across a product with decent food value that the lactose intolerant

individuals can consume.  Vi-Shapes from ViSalus Sciences offers such a

product that is a lactose free protein shake.  This product is actually a high protein

shake that has only 90 calories, so it provides incredible energy while only a

few calories.

There are actually many categories of people that have milk allergies.  New

born babies that are born prematurely commonly lack the ability to process

milk.  They typically develop this ability in a few months.  Teenagers often

have this condition progressive as they mature and the lactase enzyme

production in the small intestine is not sufficient to keep up with the vast

quantities of food that they tend to consume.  As people approach their

golden years, there is also a tendency to product much lactase and

experience the blotting, cramp, nausea, and possibly vomiting that is

associated with this condition.

It is interesting to note that in the animal kingdom, most animals lose their ability to process milk as they reach adulthood.  Some lineages or cultures of people tend to have greater problems digesting milk products than others. The asians, africans, south americans, and native american indians are all predisposed to lactose intolerance.

Then there are medication conditions that interfer with the production of

lactase and results in lactose intolerance.  Celiac disease is an intolerance to gluten.  This sensitivity may lead to irrable bowel syndrome as the intestines react to the allergy to gluten.  As a result of the irrated bowels, the milk products can not be processed either.  So the intolerance to lactose may actually be a result of wheat allergies.
